Smoking: A Deadly Habit

Here are some interesting statistics concerning smoking. The World Health organization has estimated that in developed countries a hundred million people have died from smoking during the twentieth century. Sadly, in this century the number is expected to reach one billion. In 1964, the U.S. Surgeon General issued his report on smoking and health, since that time it is estimated that more than 12 million Americans have died from causes related to smoking. In 1964, it is estimated that 43 percent of the adult population in the United States smoked today the number is estimated at 23 percent.
