A new agent, depsipepetide is capable of blocking histone deacetylase (HDAC) and therby stopping growth signals to malignant lymphoma cells. In recent NCI studies patients obtained objective responses. It is interesting to note that this agent also has activity in other tumors such as breast cancer and melanoma. [P] Studies continue at the NCI with this agent.
