Actinium – 225 is a radioactive isotope that is a by-product of nuclear power plants. By combining it with a monoclonal antibody the complex will seek out and destroy tumor cells with antigens appropriate to the antibody. So far, this therapy has been tried in mice. Mice with cancer not given this treatment survived 43 days while those treated lived up to 300 days.
