Colon Cancer: New Agent, Avastin Increases Survival

The following study was presented at ASCO 2003 at their 39th annual meeting. Nine hundred patients were metastatic colon cancer were enrolled in a study of Avastin and chemotherapy v. standard chemotherapy. [P] The avastin group had a median survival of 20.3 months vs. 15.6 months for the chemo alone group. Avastin is an antineogenesses agent.
