Anemia: New drug to reduce iron induced toxicity Link to causing Canc

Anemic patients often required transfusions. Although often life saving multiple transfusions can result in iron overload which prove to be toxic. Currently to prevent and treat this prolonged I.V. Chelation therapy is needed.

A new oral drug ICLGTO from Novartis may eliminate the need for I.V.

Therapy. The drug is in clinical trials now.
